Touring THR… Tuesday, 26/10/2004 by Mickey
Hey y’all, The first three THR-shows were great for sure! We didn’t really know what to expect with the new sound and the extra gear we use on stage but all went very well and the crowds digged our stuff big time! And oh, a bummer, my original Mickey-Randall-Travoltas-Jacket got stolen the first night already! A big thank you goes out to Ard (OJC Nirwana) for finding and returning it to me 🙂 Otherwise I would’ve been forced to perform in Vince’s jacket for all eternity and eeehhh… I’m just too small for it … Anyway, thanks to all’o ya showin up, and for the rest of you goes: see you on tour! Cheers, Mickey R.

So, only a few days left till the US-release of The Highschool Reunion! Yesterday we received some copies and, like always, it’s a great thing to open up a new album again.. We also heard one of the radio-ads that’ll be on US and Canadian radiostations, really awesome and funny aswell. We’re preparing for the new tour, rehearsing like crazy and coming up with ideas to pimp up the stage-performance, it’s gonna be a great show! Besides that, it’s almost D-Day for the new website to be launched. I took a quick peek this morning and it looks mighty great if I may say so. In other news: The Dutch fans can be delighted, as our infamous CD-Launchparty will take place on October 17th, in 013, Tilburg. More about that later, but in the meantime check www.013web.nl to be updated on ticketsales. Talk to you soon!

A big thank you goes out to the Halmrock festival organization, we’ve been treated like we were kings yesterday in Oppuurs (B). We had our own bar backstage and some of us are excellent bartenders it appears. Vince’s act was particularly memorable I’d say.
Thanks also to ‘the donuts’, for being the die-hard fans they are!
Tonight we’ll be gigging in Venlo, at the Zomerparkfeesten which have to be a blast because we played there before and it was swell then! Be there or have another boring Sunday evening…
Cheers,
Mickey Randall

Yesterday we played Stardumb Rumble in Waterfront, Rotterdam. A punkrock extravaganza with punkrock bands from all over the globe, like Groovie Ghoulies and stuff like that. Honestly, Rotterdam is the No1 spot in Holland when it comes to a lively and enthousiastic punkrock scene and dito music. Tonight is Stardumb Rumble part II, which features The Apers. Go and have a look. They’ll rock your socks off!
We will play Halmrock in Oppuurs, Belgium tonight. Since the last couple of Belgian shows were a blast, we expect it to be the same tonight. So, I’ll summon all the people that live in and near Oppuurs to come and have a ball! See you tonight!

Hi Travolticons,
this coming friday night, the fab5 (Travoltas that is..) will be RRocking at the RRumble in Waterfront, Rotterdam (NL). Our good friends the Yum Yums cancelled their tour (which is of course sad) and we will be rocking in their place (which is very good!). Also loads of other cool bands (a.o. Groovie Ghoulies/Dirtshakes/Tabascos/Zatopeks) will play, so if you didn’t plan on coming, make sure you plan on coming now!!!!

well, rehearsals and all kinds of preparations for the upcoming album are in full swing now. In a few weeks we’ll start recording. Today I’ll go to Amsterdam to rehearse “Drum & Bass” only with Woody.
Oh yeah, thank you Groezrock! I was amazed that so many people showed up at such an early hour. I’ve never played that early a show in my life. You really made it work!
– Thank you all

So there it is, “Class 0f ’88”! I’m listening to it right now, and I must say, it turned out very well! Perry laid down the vocal tracks, as he told you before and he did a fine job on those, but hey…! Dou you know what I’m talking about when I say that some experiences stay with you for the rest of your life? This song is about love, deceit and deception, emotions everyone probably relates to, one way or another. I leave you with that..
Love and Deception,
*Skokie*
Friday, March 05, 2004
Yesterday Skokie and I worked on his track called ‘Class of ’88’, we recorded all day, it’s really a great, great song. It has a very mellow flow, a bit of drama and a lot of dynamics near the end. Today I hope to lay down the vocal tracks for this demo.
Besides that I’ve completed the instrumental parts on, again, ‘(all we really want is) Rock ‘n Roll’.
I kinda stopped workin on it last fall, but the song kept on popping up so I did some re-arranging on it and now it’s turning out great!
That also means that ‘Across the Nation’ has returned into ‘the box of ideas’, since they are a bit too similar now. Maybe we’ll save that one for later!
Keep on Truckin’!!

Tuesday, March 02, 2004
Tomorrow I’ll continue working on another new tune, called ‘Across the Nation’. I started writing this track about 6 months ago, but I kinda forgot about it until yesterday when I was searching thru my pile of half-finished songs!
Besides that I’m just happy to go on tour again, I could need some action..
cheers,
Perry

WOW!! What a night! Last night we witnessed Brian Wilson and his band performing his long lost masterpiece ‘SMILE’ at the Royal Festival Hall in London. I can truly say this is the most beautiful piece of music I’ve EVER heard in my life. There are no words to describe the beauty of ‘SMILE’. I guess you’ll have to find out yourself..
Anyway, from all of us:
THANKYOU BRIAN, FOR GIVING US THIS WONDERFUL MUSIC, YOU ARE A TRUE GENIUS!! WE LOVE YOU BRIAN!!!
Love and Mercy,
Perry

After a couple of months of rehearsing it feels good to be back on stage! We did a good show and had good afterparty indeed. This calls for more! Yeah!

what a great night we had yesterday, playing with Mickey for the first time was really a blast, a little strange in the beginning but it felt good. And what a nice party afterwards: shitloads of booze and smoke-o-rama, so we were really pissed when we headed home.
Because of all that adrenaline still rushing through my body I managed to squeeze out a new song, yet untitled, but I can say safely that this is going to be one of the finest pieces i’ve written in the past few years. Hopefully I’ll feel the same when this tune is finished. It has a thick 80’s sound, with kind of a melancholic feel. I’ll get back to you as soon I’ve completed this one, hopefully with a title!
keep on truckin’

01/04/2004 – 01/10/2004
Sunday, January 04, 2004
by now most of us will be recovered from new year’s eve, so it’s back to the usual routine of writing new tunes for the next album. Currently I’m working on 3 new songs, all untitled so far. I like to work on more songs at the same time, it gives you the freedom of stepping back from one tune and move to the other, while keeping your head fresh instead of working on 1 song nonstop and loose all perspective. In the meantime, we’re working on our new set, which we will perform at our dutch shows and also at the upcoming German/Swiss tour with the Creetins around March/April. We’re also gonna do a few shows with Germany’s The Hawaiians (in Germany!!) in the beginning of March. For details: check the tourdates!!
I’m looking forward to our 1st show with Mickey, which will be at Lierop’s Nirwana. Come check it out!!
good stuff,
-Perry
